Solar in Visayas: A Sustainability partnership between Spectrum and PLDT

In a recent partnership between PLDT and Spectrum, solar facilities were installed in five different business centers all over the Visayas region.

This group of projects is part of PLDT’s efforts to move forward with their environment, sustainability, and governance (ESG) goals as well as to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs),  particularly UN SDG 7 or the access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services.

The five sites in La Paz, Iloilo; Mandaue City, Cebu; Roxas City, Capiz; Cebu City; and Bacolod City, Negros Occidental have a combined capacity of 431.21 kWp.

Altogether the solar PV systems are projected to generate around 591,550 kWh of clean energy annually. This equates to about 421 metric tons of carbon footprint reduction which is equivalent to 845,000 trees planted over 20 years or 1,680,000 kilometers reduced in vehicle travel per year.

Aside from this, Spectrum ensured that the solar facilities are installed and constructed to be as safe and reliable as possible by using state-of-the-art equipment, Tier 1 solar panels, and inverters, as well as having a team of experts overseeing all these projects.

“Through Spectrum’s safe, reliable, and end-to-end solar solutions, we empower customers to manage their electricity expenses when energy prices are volatile. Partnering with PLDT was an opportunity for us to enable the company to operate efficiently and sustainably and realize their goal to help preserve the environment.” Patrick Henry T. Panlilio, Spectrum’s Chief Operating Officer, said.

“With sustainability at the core of our operations, we also make it possible for our partners to have a sustainable energy source. We are here to harness the potential solar energy in helping customers, communities, and the country realizes our shared goal of taking care of our environment for future generations,” he added.
